RL ARTWORK
RL artwork can be an absolutely massive project in itself. There's no magical sync options here either. There isn't even a good repository for it. You have to add everything manually making sure names match your databases and such. Probably the most important of which is "Fade-Ins". These are full screen graphics that are thrown up on screen soon as you chose a game. They hide stuff like emulator windows opening and repositioning, brief glimpses of the desktop, and will stay there till the game is fully loaded. Your initial setup will include some system default fade-ins but you can also do individual game fade-ins with unique information for every game.

RL is capable of "fade-outs" as well but these are known to cause issues with some emulators so I think generally people don't use these. Besides unlike loading, exiting back to HS is pretty quick.
RL's "Pause" media is the one that can be a huge job depending on what you want. There is no limit to what you could add. Manuals, Movelists, Walkthroughs, Fanart, Logos, Screenshots, videos, music... It's all configurable. The RL Media pack you got earlier lays out the folder structure so for a lot of this. Most of the time it is simply having the right media in the appropriately named folder to make it work.

The default key for bringing up RL's pause is "Numpad+". Again, we will be leaving this value as is and using JTK to send that keystroke when needed. We'll use the same method that we used in the exit emulator function (which I moved from button 32 to button 17) earlier:

My controller uses buttons 9 and 10 for pushing down (like a button, not the direction) on each analog stick. Again, you can alias it to any combination you like. This example shows MAME but you need to do this for every system.

The Fade-in's that come with the RL media pack are ok I guess. The MAME one looks pretty good at least. With only 20 or so systems on the horizon, changing them down the road won't be too bad. Individual game fades are an option as well. No full sets exist as far as I know so such an endeavor would be pretty big.

I am trying to think of possible "Pause" media for MAME. I mean the fighting games could sure use some movelists. Maybe a screen explaining general controls would be good. Most systems will have at least a manual. RPG's could use a walkthrough. I want to limit "Pause" to only stuff that's actually useful.

Things should be coming along nicely now... except your games are still running in a window!
